PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Literary Ripples Reading and Writing Program offers weekly lessons to students in grades 1 to 12. The program aims to help students strengthen their reading and writing abilities so that they can apply the knowledge they learn to improve their school grades. Instructions in the program include reading comprehension, sentence building, vocabulary study, literature analysis, and essay writing.
 
 
STUDENTS’ LEARNING GOALS as per Ontario Curriculum expectations

Reading: using a variety of reading strategies, students will analyze, assess, and synthesize information from various literary, graphic, and informational texts.
Writing: using a variety of writing strategies, students will gather, organize, and write literary responses for an intended purpose and audience.
Media Literacy: using key media theory, students will analyze representations and techniques in media and create their own media texts for specific purposes.
Metacognition: using what they have been taught, students will reflect and apply their knowledge and skills
 
 
My name is Chin Er Yang . I am a certified teacher with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of New Brunswick, and a Master of Education Degree from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo. I have over 20 years of combined teaching, facilitating, and supervising experience in higher education, corporate institutions, as well as public and private school settings. My company name, Literary Ripples, is coined by combining my passion for literary works, especially children’s literature, with the hope that I will create a ripple effect on the love for reading, writing, and storytelling.
